Exam overview
Common admission test (CAT) is conducted by the Indian institute of management (IIM) and this is all India level exam. This exam is conducted every year in the month of October and November for the next batch. This exam is conducted for the post graduate course that is for the MBA and MBA is a management course. Now Indian institute of technology and Indian institute of science also use the CAT score for the admission in their institutes. In India there are almost 13 IIM and they conducted the common exam for the admission in management and technology courses. this is computer based exam. before 2009 this is exam is not based on computer but after 2009 it becomes computer based exam.
It consist of quantitative ability, data interpretation, verbal ability and reasoning topics. This exam is use for the test the management ability of the candidate. It is one of the popular and hardest exam which are conducted for the management exam by many other institutes.
Who can apply for the exam:
The candidates who have Bachelor degree with minimum 50% marks ( for general category) and 45% marks ( for SC/ST/OBC/PWD). The candidate should have minimum 3 years Bachelor degree after secondary education that means after 12th. There is no necessity for the particular stream either in graduation or in 12th.
note: Final year students can also apply for this exam. And who those are waited for their final year result may also apply.
If the candidate has received grade/CPGA in place of marks then the grade will be converted into marks as per the procedure of the related university or institution.
Who cannot apply for the exam:
After 12th no candidate can apply for the CAT. This exam is conducted for the post graduation course so it is mandatory to have graduation. Candidates who are below 21 years cannot apply for the exam. Second year students also cannot apply for the CAT exam.
How to apply:
For applying the CAT exam firstly you should buy voucher from the selected branch of the Axis bank. After that you have to register online at the CAT website. After that you have to choose date and time (i.e. morning session or evening session) for the exam. There is no need to attach your main documents like birth certificate, qualification, category etc. You have to shown your important documents at the time of the interview only.
Selection procedure:
For the admission in management you must score good marks in CAT exam which is computer based exam. And there is also penalty for the wrong answers in the exam. After that you will be selected for the group discussion after clearing the GD. You will called for the interview. It is the final stage of the exam. And in this stage you have to show your documents also. After interview you will be selected for the management course.
