Overview of the exam:
National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted by the UGC (University Grant Commission) for the Arts stream candidates and by the CSIR( Council of Scientific and Industrial research) and UGC jointly for the science and engineering candidates. It is a national level exam for the postgraduate students who want to take admission in PHD research and it is also for the University level teaching jobs in India. And NET exam is also for pursue the junior fellowship (JRF). The candidates who qualify the JRF are eligible to get admission in research in the subject which was in post graduation and they are also eligible for the lectureship. The JRF totally depend on the rank of the candidate in NET. And the candidate must fill in the application form that weather they are applying for the both JRF and lectureship or only for the lectureship. There is special concession for the SC/ST/VH/PH candidates.
Eligibility for the NET exam:
The candidate should have post graduation at least with 55% marks and for the SC/ST/VH/PH/PWD should have at least 50% marks in post graduation and final year and those who are waiting for their results are also eligible to apply for the NET. And PHd degree holder can also apply but if they had been completed master degree before 19 sep 1991. The candidates who are belongs to SC/ST/OBC/PWD are required to submit their category along with application form.
How to apply:
The candidates who want to apply for the NET must apply online and the Candide must scanned the photograph before applying online and after that you must fill the application form completely and after that you must pay the payment by the bank challan and take a print out of the bank challan if you want to pay in cash for this you must visit to any branch of SBI. SC/ST/PWD candidates must attach their category certificate and who want to seeking age relaxation must enclose the qualification certificate. NO admission card be issued by the UGC. Candidates get their venue and roll no. in the website of respective NET coordinating university. The candidates also must bring a photo identity card along with printout admission card at the day of examination. The candidates must affix their recent passport size photograph at the place given in the application form.
